Moms, can you believe the school year is almost over? It's like my son just blinked and went from being a newbie seventh grader, full of excitement and a dash of nerves, to standing at the edge of eighth grade. Seriously, the kid’s shot up like a beanstalk—he's almost as tall as me now! But it's not just his height; he's grown in maturity and confidence too. This year has been a rollercoaster of activities and responsibilities. We've been juggling his grades like circus performers, especially in those subjects that make him scratch his head. Balancing homework and studying has been a crash course in time management for both of us, teaching him the art of not procrastinating (too much).
On top of academics, he's been diving headfirst into sports, which now seems to be his second home. Whether he's batting the ball in baseball or swinging the tennis racquet, I’ve watched him not just improve his athletic skills but also learn the fine art of teamwork and perseverance. Cheering him on at his games has become my new hobby, as I holler from the sidelines and witness his transformation into a young athlete who handles victory and defeat with style.
And let’s not forget the band events that have kept our schedule busier than a one-man band. His love for music has hit a high note this year, and watching him practice and perform is like witnessing a mini rock star in the making. The dedication he pours into rehearsals and the excitement of his performances have added a jazzy flair to his school life, and I'm thrilled to be part of it. Each concert is a reminder of how far he’s come since he first picked up an instrument and how music has become his happy place.
Of course, navigating this teenage phase is like trying to tame a wild rollercoaster. The infamous Teen attitude is our constant companion, with eye rolls and sighs aplenty as he tests boundaries and seeks independence. Yet, amid the occasional drama and misunderstandings, I catch glimpses of the kind, thoughtful person he's becoming. This journey through the teenage years is a mix of challenges and rewards, packed with lessons that shape our bond. As we wrap up this school year, I can't help but reminisce about all the memories we've made and eagerly await the next chapter as he steps into eighth grade.
